AJE August Component of the Month Design Challenge Reveal
Every month Art Jewelry Elements hosts a design challenge. For the month of August, Diana Ptaszynski challenged participants to design something using a pendant sized rustic coin. I've made a couple pairs of earrings in the past with the charm size coins, and even created an easy earring tutorial with them.
I just love the aged crunchy look of these things. So even though I was out of town for about half of August, then dealing with the insanity of getting myself and the kids ready and off to school, I needed to participate.
I received one of the tan glazed coins. I wanted to keep things simple. For challenges, I sometimes go a bit crazy and end up frustrated and disgruntled. I think I kept it simple, but still ended up frustrated as things kept going awry. Here is the final result.
I decided at the last second to make it a lariat. I'm still not sure I'm happy with the final design, but it's going to stay like this for now.
The copper piece I bent into a bail and the copper charm hanging from the loose end are both made by Kristi Bowman.
