Themed Challenge Reveal: Eyes

Over at Art Jewelry Elements we have started doing a quarterly design challenge theme, open to all component makers and jewelry designers. This month Lindsay selected eyes as the theme. Initially I thought I would use a component by someone else to make jewelry. However, I changed my mind and instead decided to make a component.

First I tried making a couple different eye looking murrini cane. Here you can see one of the variations I tried in the cut and the uncut form.

I used each of the murrini I made into headpins as a test.

Next I tried making a test bead with one of the murrini

Last, I decided to try to make an eye bead without a murrini, making it look like a reptilian eye.

This is a design challenge with several participants. Take a look at what others have created:

Some great ideas there Jen - love the reptile eye.

Really cool stuff! But any time you get to sit down and torch you usually make really cool stuff.

I was really loving scrolling through all your experiments with the murrini and then ...oooh, wow! The reptilian eye. Stunning.

They're all great Jen! I can only imagine the work that goes into making glass cane...I never even had the patience for making polymer cane!

Susan Kennedy

You're brave - great experimentation! I never make murrini because it intimidates me! Awesome work!
